Sedation
SPECIALTY CARE is delivered primarily to pediatric patients with medical indications that require extra measures to ensure optimal outcome and comfort.
Specialty Care patients are often given IV Sedation by an anesthesiologist and treated in our clinic or in the operating room of Miller Children's Hospital.
Some of the medical indications for Specialty Care protocol are patients:
- under five years of age
- with numerous caries
- with special needs
- with underlying or chronic medical conditions (i.e. asthma, sickle cell anemia, cleft palate and other cranio-facial malformations, HIV, cancer or diabetes)
Although this is an expensive procedure, we believe in quality of care and the patient's safety as our first consideration.
