“The
largest unmet need for health care in Los Angeles County is dental
health. The County of Los Angeles, as well as the entire state, has
reached epidemic proportions in oral disease.”

Outreach
Mobile Dental Clinic
| The Mobile Dental Clinic Program was developed and
funded in 2003 as an extension
of CDHC’s commitment to quality and innovative programming. The principle goal of the program is to
significantly increase the level of oral health of children and
families in the greater Long Beach area by going out into the
community and providing free dental screenings and education. |
| The 32-foot long, state-of-the-art dental van
has traveled to
school sites throughout the Long Beach Unified School District to
provide on-site dental services in a safe, fun environment. |

2007 began a wonderful collaboration with the long standing Long
Beach Department of Health and Human Service's dental sealant Smile
Bright Program through a generous grant from LA Care
In addition to providing diagnostic xrays, cleanings and
fluoride treatments the mobile clinic staff stresses good oral
hygiene and healthful eating practices, helping young patients
establish the habit of seeing a dentist regularly. |

This innovative program was made possible in large part by the generous
support of these organizations.
